Kingston, Ont. (February 7, 2009) – Hockey's oldest rivalry delivered another classic with the Queen's Gaels edging the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins 1-0 on Saturday in the 23rd annual Carr-Harris Cup at the Kingston Memorial Centre.

Scott Kenway of Calgary provided all the scoring 41 seconds into the third period when he drove to the net beating Adam Briggs of Wallace N.S.. David Chubb of St. Georges, Nlfd., and Brendan Bureau of Amherstview, Ont. assisted on the goal.

Brady Morrison of Thamesville, Ont., made 25 saves, recording the Gaels' first shutout of the 2008-09 campaign. Briggs countered with 31 saves in the loss. Both Morrison and Briggs were named the game's most valuable players for their respective teams.

Morrison's shutout is the third in Carr-Harris Cup history. All three have been recorded by Queen's. This is also the eighth time the cup has been decided by one goal.

Queen's has captured the last two Carr-Harris Cup meetings. The game has been played annually between the two teams since 1986 and commemorates what is considered the oldest hockey rivalry in the world. The first meeting between these two teams in 1886 saw Queen's beat RMC 1-0 as well.

The cup is named in honour of the Carr-Harris family which has had several members compete in past games in the rivalry on both sides.

With the win, Queen's is now two points up on the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the sixth and final playoff position in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) eastern conference. Queen's has one game remaining in the 2008-09 regular season, against RMC next Friday. Meanwhile, Ottawa has three games in hand and plays Toronto tomorrow afternoon.
