Gaels end losing streak and head to post-season

Ryan Hairsine finishes with 19 points in Gaels victory over RMC
Kingston, Ont. (February 21, 2009)- Ryan Hairsine of St. Marys, Ont., led the Gaels with 19 points ending the Gaels 10 game losing streak and securing a playoff berth with a 99-72 victory over the Royal Military College (RMC) on Saturday. 

Hairsine's 19 points was a game high and marked one of six Gaels who scored in double-digits as the Gaels finish up the 2008-09 regular season with a victory. 

Kurtis Lawes of Sunridge, Ont., recorded 14 points, while Matt Johnston of Halifax, N.S., and Daniel Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., both finished with 12 points.  Fifth-year forward Robert Shaw of Toronto and Nick Didonato of Sault St. Marie, Ont., finished with 11 points rounding out the double-digit players. 

The Paladins had five players shooting double-digits in the loss with Matthew Wookey of Sarina, Ont., leading RMC with 16 points. 

RMC finishes up with their second straight season without a victory falling 0-22 while, Queen's end the regular season wiht an 7-15 record. 

With the win the Gaels advance to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) east-division playoff, and travel to Toronto to play the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Wednesday, February 25th at 8:00pm.
