KINGSTON, Ont. (October 25, 2009) –
Martha Ross of Newton, Mass., registered eight goals over the final weekend of the OUA lacrosse season leading the Queen's Gaels to a third place seeding heading into the OUA championship slated for next weekend.
Ross tallied a hat-trick in a 13-4 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday morning at North Field on campus at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont. She topped her morning performance netting four in a 17-9 victory against McGill in the closing game of the OUA regular season. On Saturday, Ross scored once in an 8-7 loss to the Western Mustangs.
Jacqueline Byers of Mississauga, Ont., scored five times and added four assists in the three weekend matches to tie McGill's Jacqueline Millette of Longmeadow, Mass., for fifth place in the OUA scoring race with 44 points. Byers finished the season with 28 goals and 16 assists.
Queen's
Lisa McLaughlin of Whitby, Ont., had four goals and three assists over the weekend bringing her final tally to 37th points which puts her in a tie for seventh place in the OUA.

Sarah Goldspink of Mississauga, Ont., notching four, while
Laura Chambers of Toronto
Gwyneth Ross of Newton, Mass. and
Kelsey Eriksen of Andover, Mass., each had three.
Natasha O'Toole of Whitby, Ont., scored two goals.
Queen's (8-4) finishes the regular season deadlocked with Western (8-4) at 16 points. Due to OUA tie-breaking procedures the Gaels are seeded third heading into the OUA final-four. Queen's lost both head-to-head matchups against the Mustangs this season including Saturday's match.
Toronto finished the OUA regular season in first place with a perfect 12-0 record while Laurier, the defending 2008 champion finished fourth with a 7-5 record.
Next week, the Gaels will look to reverse their regular season fortunes against Western in the OUA semifinal set for next Saturday in Hamilton, Ont. The semifinal game is scheduled for 2:00pm. If successful, Queen's will play either Toronto or Laurier in the OUA championship beginning at 2:00pm on Sunday. If they fail to advance past the Mustangs, the Gaels will play for the bronze medal on Sunday at 12:00pm.
