Arnold scores lone goal in loss to Carleton

OTTAWA Ont. (October 24, 2009) – Michael Arnold of London Ont., scored the Gaels lone goal in their 4-1 loss to the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa Saturday afternoon.

The Gaels, playing in their final regular season game, took the early lead thanks to Arnold's sixth goal of the season. Queen's had a great opportunity to increase their lead off a penalty kick, but the attempt was stopped by the Ravens' keeper. Carleton responded with two goals of their own in the later part of the half, leaving the Gaels down 2-1 after 45 minutes.

The second half saw the Gaels switch keepers as Jon Rogers of Calgary, Alta., was given his first game action of the season.

The Gaels struggled to keep the ball in the Ravens' end in the second half as Carleton continued to put on the pressure. Carlton scored two more quick goals in the second half, in the 59th and 61st minute to end the game with a final score of 4-1.

The loss finishes the No. 10 ranked Gaels' season with an 8-2-4 record and puts them in second place in the OUA East division behind the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

The Gaels, who have earned a bye through the first round of playoffs, will next play in the OUA Quarter-finals next Saturday at Richardson Stadium. Stay tuned to www.gogaelsgo.com for game information.
