Murphy doubles up in loss to Toronto

Kingston, Ont. (January 31, 2009) – Anne Murphy of Milford, Ont., recorded a double-double but it wasn't enough as the Queen's women's basketball team were defeated by the Toronto Varsity Blues 58-51 in Kingston, Ont.

Murphy tallied 12 rebounds and 12 baskets in the loss. OUA leading scorer Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. was held in check, producing well below her 20 point game average with just 11 points. She made only two three pointers. Alaina Porter of Burlington, Ont. had a team high 14 points for the Gaels.

Queen's was able to hold the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) second leading scorer Alaine Hutton of Hamilton, to ten points but Tania Meunier of St. Albert, Alta. stepped up her role hitting a game high 25 points for the Varsity Blues.

The Gaels head onto the road for the final four games of the regular season with Laurentian being the first stop next Friday at 6:00pm. Queen's and Laurentian are currently tied for fifth place in the OUA East division with 14 points.
