Toronto (January 23, 2009) –
Bryan Fautley of Oakville, Ont., scored five aces along with 10 kills and six digs as the Queen's men's volleyball team defeated the York Lions in straight sets 3-0. With set scores 25-19, 27-25, 25-22 the Gaels filed their 13th victory and their ninth straight-set win.
Along with Faultey,
Jeff DeMeza of Calgary and
Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., registered 10 digs for the Gaels producing 11 and 10 points respectfully. Libero
Stu Hamilton of Ottawa had 11 digs in only two sets played.
York's top performance came from Reid Hall of Georgetown, Ont. who recorded a game high 14 digs.
Queen's is in second place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) with a 13-3 record and are just two points back of the first place McMaster Marauders. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Gaels travel to face the Windsor Lancers next Friday before battling the Western Mustangs on Saturday. The Gaels are currently two points ahead of Western in the standings and that match-up will potentially clinch a home-playoff date.
