Heller helps Gaels to first win of season

Toronto (November 1, 2008) – Eylssa Heller of Highland Park, Ill, USA had 10 kills helping the Gaels earn their first win of the season by defeating Ryerson University 3-0. Heller would add three digs and post 10 points in the victory.

Queen's started with a dominating 25-17 victory in the first set, but then then the Rams and Gaels would play the final two sets close. The Gaels would hold off attacks from the Rams to win the final two sets 25-23 and 25-21.

Sarah Fetterly of Ottawa posted nine digs which was a key defensive effort for the Gaels in the final two sets. Gaels setter Julie Lockwood of Calgary had 29 assists which was the game high for both teams.

Leah Saar of Ajax, Ont. was the top player on the Ram's side earning 15 kills, three digs and one service ace. She would record 16 points for Ryerson.

Queen's record is now 1-3 and sit alone in fourth place of the OUA East division. They are just two points behind Toronto and York for second place. Next Saturday, the Gaels will take on the Royal Military College (RMC) who play Ryerson on Sunday.
