Kingston, Ont. (November 15, 2008) - For the second time in a week the Queen's Gaels came up short against the McGill Redmen losing 3-0 on Saturday at the Kingston Memorial Centre.

The Redmen outshot the Gaels 38-17 as Queen's record drops to 5-6-2 to sit tied with the Toronto Varsity Blues for first place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Mid-East division. Toronto doubled Concordia on Saturday 4-2.

Brady Morrison of Thamesville, Ont. was the Gaels shining light making 35 stops and was definitely a factor of preventing the game from becoming lopsided.

“That was the first time this season that we've been outshot that badly,” said Head Coach Brett Gibson. “McGill did a great job, they were hungry and they wanted it more than us. The game was flattering only because Brady Morrison stood on his head.”

“We got outworked,” said Morrison following the game. “We played a decent game in our own end but when it came to battling for the pucks and on our power play we just didn't work as hard as we needed to. They worked and found a way.”

Queen's was 0 for 6 on the power play while McGill was 1 for 7 however the Gaels did have 14 infractions for 55 minutes compared to McGill's 10 infractions for 20 minutes.

McGill opened the scoring in the first period at 10:36 on the power play when defence men Ken Morin of Toronto converted on the power play. Sam Bloom of Toronto and Simon Marcotte-Legare of Longueuil, Que. assisted on the goal.

Bloom would add his second assist of the game as Alexandre Picard-Hooper of Boucherville, Que. recorded his third goal of the season at 13:50 of the second period. Nineteen second later, Leonard Verill of Mashteuiastsh, Que. capped the scoring at 3-0 in favour of McGill.

Last week the Gaels lost 4-1 to McGill in Montreal in front of a boisterous crowd and with tonight's win have extended their consecutive winning streak against Queen's to 13 games. The crowd at tonight's game was just under 1,000.

The Gaels are in for a challenge in the coming weeks as they face the 11-1 UQTR Patriotes (Trois Rivieres) twice in the next four games. They visit Trois Rivieres next Friday and then battle Concordia in Montreal on Saturday. A week later on November 28, Trois Rivieres will visit Kingston to battle the Gaels.
