Kingston, Ont. (October 24, 2008) – No. 8 nationally ranked Carleton scored three goals on six power play chances to claim a 5-2 win over the Queen's Gaels, Friday night at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
Gaels netminder
Brady Morrison of Thamesville, Ont. made 36 saves, but that wasn't enough to stop the Ravens winning streak which now sits at four games.
Queen's kept pace with the Ravens for most of the game, but a three-goal explosion in the third period made the difference. Carleton would register two goals in the first two frames while the Gaels were held off the board until the third period.
Clinton McCullough of Aurora, Ont. provided the opening Gaels goal scoring just 1:20 into the third period to make the score 2-1. McCullough was left alone in front and netted the pass from Aurora native
Billy Burke.
Carleton would regain their two goal lead just minutes later and then made it a three game goal scoring their second goal of the evening on the power play. Burke and McCullough would connect again at 9:48 of the third to move the Gaels within two goals. This time Burke netted the goal with McCullough and Jonathan Lawrence of Steinbach, Man. assisting.
The Ravens concluded the scoring at 16:37 with Michael Testa of Ottawa scoring his second of the game.
Queen's moves to 2-3-1 on the season and will host the University of Toronto on Saturday night at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
