Ling enters his third season at the helm of the women's volleyball program at Queen's and has put together a pair of 12-7 records in each of his first two seasons getting the Gaels back into the playoffs in the OUA East. 

Prior to Queen's, Ling amassed over two decades of coaching experience including the last 14 years where he served as an assistant coach with the Alberta Pandas in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA). A consistent Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) top 10-ranked team, the Pandas were CIS champions in 2007 and most recently finished with a CIS silver in 2012.

In addition to his athlete, team and program development work with the Pandas, Ling has been responsible for the Pandas Volleyball Club, Camp and Tournament programs as well as serving as a session instruction in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.

Along with his experience in the CIS, Ling also has an extensive background with Volleyball Canada and the Canadian women's national team programs.  Currently the manager and lead coach in the Volleyball Canada Centre for Excellence in Alberta, Ling has also worked with women's Youth, Junior, Universiade and Senior national teams during his career.

From 2006 to 2009 he served as the Canadian Senior Women's National Team Assistant Coach participating in the 2008 Olympic Qualification Tournament, the NORCECA Championships (2007, 2008), the Pan AM Cup (2006, 2007, 2008) and many other international competitions.

Ling began his extensive coaching career at the club level in Alberta with the South East Edmonton Volleyball Club and Northern Alberta Volleyball Club in 1995.
Ling is a graduate of the University of Alberta earning his Bachelor of Education in 2000 and is currently finishing his MBA at Alberta as well. His education experience extends to roles as a high school teacher, teaching part-time at the university and as an education officer with the Government of Canada from 2009 to 2011.

He is currently certified as a Level 2 Canadian Volleyball Association coach and has appeared at many high performance camps and coaching clinics throughout his career.
