
The
Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC), opened in December 2009 features over 24,500 square feet of cardio & strength zones with all the latest equipment.
The ARC also boasts Kingston's largest pool (38m x 25m), four fitness/dance studios, eight international squash courts plus two racquetball courts. In addition, the ARC has two gymnasiums which can be used for a multitude of sports and is home to the Queen's Gaels basketball and volleyball teams.
Queen's has four
artificial turf fields for athletic and recreational use: Tindall field, Nixon field, Miklas-McCarney field, and Richardson Stadium. These fields can be used for a variety of varsity sports such as football, field hockey, lacrosse, rugby and soccer, which all have access to the fields for training and game preparation.
Richardson Stadium is home to the Queen's Football and Soccer programs. Richardson Stadium was revitalized for the 2016 season and converted to artificial turf. The revitalized Richardson Stadium features all new amenities including integrated and varied seating options, improved sightlines bringing the fan closer to the field action, a convenient east side main entrance, and an array of enhanced amenities. In 2023, the Lang Pavilion was opened, bringing a state-of-the-art team room and ameneties and a mezzanine featuring concessions, bathrooms and a viewing area in the north end.
The Kingston Memorial Centre, former home of the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, is the current home for Queen's Hockey.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

As a varsity team athlete at Queen's University, you will have the opportunity to train year-round with professional conditioning coaches in first-class facilities. The
Strength and Conditioning Program for Queen's varsity athletes fosters the development of a strong, healthy and successful athlete. This is accomplished by the professional staff design and implementation of attainable and effective conditioning programs by our experience strength and conditioning coaches and student interns.

Queen's University has two full-time Athlete Services Coordinators - one responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes, and one responsible for their retention at Queen's University. The main role in Athlete Services is to support student-athletes academically by connecting the student to a broader support network within their chosen academic stream. Athlete Services also provides an orientation program featuring educational workshops and group study opportunities designed to help first-year athletes adjust to university life.
Athlete Services provides a free tutoring service to all Student-Athletes by employing upper year student-athletes as mentors and tutors. Athlete Services also works with all Academic Departments, Admissions and Residence to ensure that the Student-Athlete is given top priority so that they can achieve both their academic and athletic goals.

Sports therapy at Queen's University is highlighted by its convenience and standard of care. Based in the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC), Queen's sports therapy program is home to certified athletic, physio, and massage therapists, as well as over 30 student trainers. This staff is complemented by a team of doctors and specialist who view the care of student-athletes as priority.

"Queen's University provides millions of dollars annually in student financial assistance in either or both merit based (scholarship) or need-based (bursary) situations. Queen's also distributes more than $1 million dollars to student-athletes given that they have met both the academic and athletic requirements. The University's major academic awards along with programs like SWEP, OSAP, and the work study program are other on-campus opportunities for additional financial support.
Each season Queen's University Athletics & Recreation honours its top student-athletes with
Major Athletic Awards. These awards are presented annually during the
Colour Awards Athletics & Recreation Banquet which first began in 1936.
Queen's guarantees
residence to all first year full-time students and each residence offers a variety of
meal plan options from all you can eat to pay as you go. Once a sophomore, 95% of students live within five kilometres of campus making walking and biking the most popular forms of transportation. Your student card is also a bus pass within the community although the city centre is literally steps away and you are close enough to walk to much of what Kingston has to offer.
