Queen's Women's Soccer opened their 2026 home schedule in winning fashion on Sunday, earning a 3–1 victory over the Trent Excalibur at Richardson Stadium.
The Gaels wasted little time establishing themselves offensively, controlling the pace of play and generating opportunities throughout the opening half.
Queen's broke through in the 17th minute when Sasha Doleman (Kinesiology) opened the scoring off a setup from Victoria Hawkins (Kinesiology), giving the Gaels an early 1–0 advantage.
The pressure continued, and in the 37th minute, Soph Campbell (Kinesiology) doubled the Queen's lead, finding the back of the net off an assist from Regan Adams (Science).
Queen's added to the lead just before the halftime whistle. Tea Viduka (Arts) scored in the 45th minute, with Campbell and Evelyn McCabe (Kinesiology) picking up the assists, sending the Gaels into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
The visitors cut into the lead early in the second half, but Queen's remained composed defensively and saw out the remainder of the match to secure the 3–1 home-opening victory. The Gaels controlled much of the afternoon, finishing with a 14–1 advantage in shots.
Queen's will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup when they return to Richardson Stadium on Friday, Sept. 11 to take on the Carleton Ravens. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
