Queen's Football's Niklas Henning signs with NFL's Las Vegas Raiders

Queen's Football offensive tackle Niklas Henning has signed a professional contract with the National Football League's Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders announced the signing on Sunday after Henning (Geology) participated in the team's rookie mini-camp. Henning attended the mini-camp on a tryout basis before earning a contract with the team.

Sunday's signing was the culmination of an incredible story for Henning, who joined Queen's Football ahead of the 2021 season as a walk-on. Henning, who played tight end and defensive end in high school, reached out to Head Coach Steve Snyder ahead of the season asking for a tryout, and was originally added to the team as an H-Back.

After three seasons as an H-Back, Henning moved to offensive line where he played the past two seasons. Henning was named a U SPORTS All-Canadian at both H-Back and offensive tackle. Henning was named a U SPORTS Second Team All Canadian in 2023 as a force in both the run and pass game at the H-Back position for Queen's, finishing the season with five receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Henning was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian and an OUA First Team All-Star this past season at right tackle after helping Queen's Football's offensive line pave the way for the conference's fifth best rushing attack, finishing the year with 1,493 yards, and third best offence overall, averaging 399.0 yards per game, while helping Queen's win the 117th Yates Cup.
