Queen's Men's Hockey cap incredible playoff run with OUA bronze medal, berth in U SPORTS Championship

Queen's Men's Hockey are OUA bronze medalists and heading to the U SPORTS Men's Hockey Championship after a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the TMU Bold Saturday afternoon in Toronto, Ont.

Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies) capped an incredible playoff run with the overtime winner, finding the rebound in the slot and burying the puck in the back of the net. It was Hutcheson's second goal of the game and seventh of the postseason. Hutcheson led all goal scorers and finished second in the conference in points with nine through eight games in the playoffs.

The Gaels opened the scoring and held a three-goal lead midway through the second period before the Bold stormed back to even the score and force overtime.

Queen's held the momentum in the extra frame, with Hutcheson ultimately sending Queen's home happy with the bronze medal and a spot in the U SPORTS Men's Hockey Championship next week.

Also scoring for the Gaels were Ian Lemieux (Arts & Science) and Ethan Larmand (Arts & Science) in the win, while Ante Zlomislic (Applied Science), Liam Tanner (Kinesiology), Sebbie Johnson (Arts & Science) and Derek Hamilton (Arts & Science) with two had assists.

Tanner Wickware (Graduate Studies) continued a strong postseason in the win, recording 44 saves. The Gaels finished with 38 shots on net against the Bold.
