Gaels Advance with 3-2 Playoff Victory Over Concordia

The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team continued their postseason run with a 3-2 victory over the Concordia Stingers in round two game on Wednesday February 25th, moving one step closer in their pursuit of an OUA Championship.

The Gaels opened the scoring in at the end of the first period. With only seconds remaining on the clock, Samuel Margburg (Arts & Science) found the back of the net off a feed from Aidan Castle (Faculty of Arts & Science), giving the Gaels a crucial 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

In the second period, the Gaels struck again late in the frame. Just under a minute remaining and immediately following a faceoff, Ian Lemieux (Arts & Science) acted on the opportunity, finishing a play set up by Sebbie Johnson (Faculty of Arts & Science) and Liam Tanner (School of Kinesiology and Health Studies) to extend the Gaels' advantage.

The Stingers kept the game tight, but the Gaels responded in the third period with what would stand as the game-winner. After Sebbie Johnson (Faculty of Arts & Science) intercepted a Stingers pass, Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies) converted the turnover into the game-winning goal.

Come cheer on the Gaels return to the ice on Friday, February 27, when they once again face the Concordia Stingers at the Memorial Centre!
