Queen's Men's Rugby vs Waterloo

Queen's Men's Rugby dominate Waterloo to even record

After a back and forth opening 25 minutes of the game, Queen's Men's Rugby pulled ahead and didn't look back on their way to a big 55-17 win over the visiting Waterloo Warriors Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.

The Gaels opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Gabriel Ricci (Health Sciences) found the try zone after a 10-yard run. After Waterloo responded with their own try and took the lead after a successful convert, Queen's came back with a Cam Bubyn (Computer Science) try in the 18th minute off a 10-yard run off scrum and Chase Kittleson's convert gave the Gaels their second lead of the game.

Waterloo would respond again to tie the game before Queen's outscored their opponents 43-5 the rest of the way for the 38-point win.

Trekker James (Psychology) led the Gaels with a game-high three tries, while Kittleson (Arts & Science) recorded 10 points for Queen's in the win off five converts.

Bubyn and Angus Dewar (Arts & Science) each recorded two tries for Queen's in the win while Ricci and Graham Walters (Arts & Science) finished the win with one try each.

With the victory, Queen's improved their record to 2-2 on the season. The Gaels are in action next weekend taking on the Brock Badgers on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 PM in St. Catharines, Ont.
