Game Recap: Hockey (M) | | Ciara Kerins, Communications Assistant

Queen’s Unable to Break Through in 4–0 Loss to Nipissing.

Queen's Men's Hockey closed out its weekend homestand with an afternoon clash against the Nipissing Lakers, with two critical points on the line in the OUA playoff race.

The Lakers struck first midway through the opening frame, converting on early pressure to grab a 1–0 lead. Nipissing doubled its advantage later in the period, capitalizing on the power play to head into the first intermission up 2–0.

The middle stanza turned into a defensive grind, with both teams tightening up through the neutral zone and limiting quality looks. Queen's pushed the pace and searched for a spark offensively, but strong goaltending and structured play from the Lakers kept the Gaels off the board, sending the game into the third still 2–0.

Nipissing wasted no time out of the break, finding the back of the net just 10 seconds into the final frame to extend the lead to 3–0. An empty-net goal late sealed the result, and following a lengthy delay, the contest came to a close with the Lakers earning a 4–0 shutout victory.

Queen's Men's Hockey now turns its attention to another busy weekend, returning to the Memorial Centre for a Friday night matchup against McGill at 7:00 p.m. The Gaels will then head over to Slush Puppie Place on Saturday for the Carr-Harris Challenge Cup showdown against the RMC Paladins, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the ARC or on game day at Slush Puppie Place—come out and support your Gaels!
