The Queen's Gaels women's hockey team competed in a hard-fought matchup on Friday, January 16, falling 1-2 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Despite the loss, the Gaels showed determination and effort throughout the game.
Ottawa opened the scoring early in the first period, but the Gaels responded quickly to even the game.
Melissa Parton (Arts & Science) scored shortly after, with assists from
Taya Leonard (Kinesiology) and
Sara Di Filippo (Concurrent Education/Arts), bringing the game level and keeping the momentum within reach.
The Gaels continued to compete hard, showing disciplined defensive play and sustained pressure in the offensive zone. Despite their efforts, the Gee-Gees regained the lead later in the first period. The same intensity carried through the rest of the periods, with the Gee-Gees ultimately holding on for the win.
The Gaels will look to bounce back in their next matchup on Saturday, January 17, when they take on the Carleton Ravens.
