Queen's Fastpitch opened their season this past weekend, opening the season 3-1 with two wins over the York Lions and a series split with the TMU Bold.

Game One Vs. York Lions

Win 2-1 

Maddie Hickingbottom struck out 15 batters on the day. The hurler also gave up five hits and one run over seven innings while walking none.
 
Salvucci went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Toryn Bosanko went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Queen's University Gaels in hits. Wang led Queen's University Gaels with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Ausha Guzzwell stole two bases. Queen's University Gaels ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Queen's University Gaels turned one double play in the game. Queen's University Gaels were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Paige Duivenvoorden made the most plays with 15.
 
Game Two vs. York Lions

Win 17-7 

Abi Poland collected four hits in four at bats, as Queen's University Gaels defeated York University Lions 17-7 on Saturday. Poland doubled in the third inning, doubled in the first inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.
 
Queen's University Gaels scored eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third inning. Poland doubled, scoring one run, Guzzwell drew a walk, scoring one run, Morrison doubled, scoring two runs, Tianna Hope singled, scoring two runs, Emma Wang singled, scoring one run, and Poland singled, scoring one run.

Michelle Rath earned the win for Queen's University Gaels. The pitcher gave up eight hits and seven runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Sabrina D'Amore began the game for York University Lions. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one.
 
Game one vs. TMU

Loss 4-6 

Queen's University Gaels opened the scoring in the first after Emma Wang grounded out, scoring one run.

Bold took the lead in the bottom of the third. An error scored two runs, to give TMU Bold the lead, 3-1.

Sophia Vilchez earned the win for TMU Bold. The starter gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out none and walking three. Maddie Hickingbottom took the loss for Queen's University Gaels. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out 11 and walking none.
 
Game two vs. TMU

Win 10-5 

Queen's University Gaels rallied to defeat TMU Bold 10-5 on Sunday. Queen's University Gaels trailed by as many as four runs during the game.

A home run to left field by Sophia Vilchez on an 0-2 count put TMU Bold on the board in the top of the first.

TMU Bold extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI errors by Kiyah Hurry and Vilchez.

Queen's University Gaels tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Abi Poland, a single by Tianna Hope, and a triple by Ausha Guzzwell.

Queen's University Gaels captured the lead, 8-5, in the bottom of the third after Samantha Barker tripled down the right field line, Toryn Bosanko grounded out, and Elayna Jackson singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Queen's University Gaels piled up 13 hits in the game. Guzzwell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Queen's University Gaels with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Poland led Queen's University Gaels with three hits in four at bats. Hope, Jackson, and Barker each collected multiple hits for Queen's University Gaels. Bosanko stole two bases. Queen's University Gaels ran wild on the base paths, collecting three stolen bases for the game.
