Lizzie Gibson, Cameron Bubbyn, and Abby Poland were named the Queen's University Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Egg Farmers of Ontario.
Gibson (Arts & Science) had an incredible day on the pitch for Queen's Women's Rugby, leading all scorers with 55 total points off of three tries and 20 converts in the Gaels' 160-0 win over the York Lions.
With the victory, Queen's improved their record to 2-0. The Gaels will look to stay undefeated next weekend when they host the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at Nixon Field. Admission to the game is free.
Bubyn (Computer Science) had a strong game for Queen's Men's Rugby in their season opener, helping the Gaels start the year with a 45-12 win over the Waterloo Warriors. Bubbyn led all scorers with two tries for 10 points.
Queen's, now 1-0 to start the season, are back in action next weekend, taking on the Trent Excalibur on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. in Peterborough, Ont.
Poland (Arts & Science) helped Queen's Fastpitch start the season 3-1 with two wins over the York Lions and a series split against the TMU Bold.
In 16 plate appearances, Poland batted .467 with seven hits, five singles, two doubles, five runs scored, four RBIs, and two walks.
