Andrea Gortana were named the Queen's University Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Egg Farmers of Ontario.
Kayrouz (Commerce) recorded four assists for Queen's Women's Soccer in their season-opening weekend, helping the Gaels defeat the Laurentian Voyageurs 5-0 and the RMC Paladins 5-1.
With the wins, Queen's Women's Soccer started the season 2-0 and are ranked No. 10 in the U SPORTS Top 10 rankings. The Gaels are back in action this weekend, hosting the TMU Bold on Friday, Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. before travelling to Toronto, Ont. to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
Gortana (Business) helped Queen's Men's Soccer get off to a perfect start to the season, contributing three goals in the Gaels' two wins over the weekend, 2-1 over Laurentian and 5-0 over RMC.
Gortana scored off a highlight reel shot from 35-yards out against the Voyageurs, a goal that ultimately wound up as the winner, before adding two goals in Queen's five-goal win over the cross-town rival Paladins.
Queen's Men's Soccer is 2-0 to start the season and are back in action this week, travelling to Toronto, Ont. to take on the TMU Bold on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. and the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 3:15 p.m.
