Queen's Men's Volleyball alumnus Erik Siksna named to Volleyball Canada Next Gen roster, VNL long roster

KINGSTON, Ont. (May 20, 2025) - Queen's Men's Volleyball alumnus Erik Siksna was named to the Volleyball Canada Next Gen roster and Volleyball Nations League (VNL) long roster by Volleyball Canada on Tuesday.

Siksna (Commerce) completed an illustrious five-year career with the Gaels in 2024 before playing professionally with Knack Volley Roeselare in Belgium this past season.

Siksna was named a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, OUA First Team All-Star, and OUA Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season after finishing  the season third in the OUA in hitting percentage at .339, sixth in kills/set at 3.50, and ninth in total kills at 217.
 
The Markham, Ont. native was also named the Jenkins Trophy recipient for Queen's Men's Sports Athlete of the Year after helping the Gaels capture an OUA silver medal and finish fourth at the U SPORTS Men's Volleyball Championship, tying the program's best ever finish at the national level.

The OUA and U SPORTS Rookie of the Year in 2019-20, U SPORTS Top 8 Academic All-Canadian in 2020-21,East Division Player of the Year in 2021-22, and now four-time OUA All-Star, Siksna also finished first in the conference in service aces at 52, and service aces per set at 0.84. Siksna also recorded 16 assists, 87 digs, and 24 total blocks in the 2023-24 season.

The Next Gen team will compete at the NORCECA Pan Am Cup from August 24-September 1 in Mexico.

The Senior team will compete in VNL starting on June 11 in Quebec City before also playing in the United States and Slovenia.
