Queen's Wrestling traveled to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend to compete in the OUA Wrestling Championship at Algoma University.
Marthe Laplante Brady (Faculty of Applied Science) took home the silver medal in the 72kg category. The Kingston, Ont. native won both pool matches by Technical Fall against opponents from Brock and Algoma. Laplante Brady met Isata Mansary from Western in the gold medal match where Mansary won by a 12-4 decision.
With the silver medal, Laplante Brady qualifies for the U SPORTS Championship in St. Catharines, Ont. on February 28 - March 1, 2025.
Also qualifying for the U SPORTS Championship on the women's side was first-year Clara Ryan who placed fifth overall in the Women's 65 kg category after defeating their opponent from Guelph by technical fall.
Overall, Queen's Women's Wrestling placed eighth and Queen's Men's Wrestling placed eleventh.
