Queen's Women's Curling finished fourth at the OUA Women's Curling Championship this past weekend in Sudbury, Ont., just narrowly missing the podium to the Guelph Gryphons in the bronze medal match.
On Day 1, the Gaels began their campaign with a narrow 7-6 loss to the host team, Laurentian Voyageurs, before securing a 7-4 win over Guelph, ending the day with a 1-1 record.
Day 2 saw a tough 6-5 loss to the Windsor Lancers, but the Gaels bounced back with a 10-6 win over Guelph, finishing round-robin play at 2-2.
In the quarterfinals, Queen's faced Laurentian and pulled off a dramatic 6-4 win, however, in the semifinals, they were taken down 9-3 by the Laurier Golden Hawks.
The Gaels met Guelph in the bronze medal game, where they tied the match but lost 9-6 in an extra end, finishing just off the podium in fourth place.
Queen's had three OUA All-Stars named at the event.
Justine Toner (Health Sciences) was named to the First Team, and
Sadie McCutcheon (Arts & Sciences) and
Emily Parkinson (Applied Science) were named to the Second Team.
Justine Toner was also named the OUA Women's Curling Rookie of the Year.
