Hot Streak Continues: Queen’s Gaels Dominate Laurier 82–42 for Ninth Win

Riding a wave of early-season dominance, Queen's Women's Basketball returned to the ARC on Saturday afternoon, ready to make a statement against the Laurier Goldenhawks.

The Gaels opened the game with crisp ball movement and strong team chemistry, generating quality scoring opportunities throughout the first quarter. Despite their precise play making, Queen's trailed narrowly, heading into the first break down 14–11. The second quarter told a different story—Queen's found their rhythm on both ends of the court, pushing the pace and tightening defensively to seize control. By halftime, the Gaels led 37–29.

The momentum only grew in the third quarter. Ally Smith (Kinesiology) ignited the crowd with back-to-back highlight-reel three-pointers, extending Queen's lead as they dominated the frame. Their energy, tempo, and execution propelled the team to a commanding 61–35 advantage entering the final quarter.

Queen's maintained control in the fourth, closing out the game with an 82–42 win, marking their ninth consecutive victory.

Notably, Katrina Renon (Arts & Sciences) contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds, while both Ally Smith (Kinesiology) and Sarah Reid (Kinesiology) added 10 points apiece. Kiyara Letlow (Kinesiology) continued her dominant stretch, powering the Gaels with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Reflecting on another 40-point team outing, she said:

"Working on our synergy a lot in practice, how we can all share the ball – we have a lot of friends on this team – so the biggest thing is making sure everyone can score and we do that, as you can see we win by 40 and we're getting really great looks off of that."

Queen's Women's Basketball is back in action next weekend, traveling to Oshawa on Friday, November 28 at 4:00pm to face the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. With their undefeated season on the line, the Gaels will look to keep the momentum alive on the road. Catch every moment live on OUA.TV
