Queen's took to the Memorial Centre ice for a Sunday matinee showdown, hosting the UQTR Patriotes in their second and final meeting of the season.
Michael Renwick (Arts & Sciences) opened the scoring on the power play, taking a slick cross-ice feed and wiring it bar-down past the UQTR netminder. Ante Zlomislic (Applied Science) and Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies) picked up the helpers on the play. From puck drop, the game had a heavy, hard-nosed tone, with both sides leaning into a physical, grinding style.
UQTR answered back in the middle frame, capitalizing to even the score 1–1 heading into the third and final period.
Neither side could break through in the third, keeping things locked up and sending the game to 3-on-3 overtime.
Sebbie Johnson (Arts & Sciences) is the overtime hero, netting the game-winner off a slick play down low. Assists go to Michael Renwick and Nolan Hutcheson (Health Studies), both recording their second points of the night. With the 2–1 victory, the Gaels topple the top team in the OUA.
