Queen's Women's Soccer edged the Nipissing Lakers 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium, coming out ahead in a high-scoring game between two OUA East contenders.
The Lakers opened the scoring with two goals before Queen's cut their lead in half in the first half, with
Seema Sakran (Kinesiology) finding the back of the net on a goal assisted by
Mattson Strickler (Concurrent Education).
The Lakers restored their two goal lead early in the second half before the Gaels ended the game on a strong three-goal run to win the game.
Sakran scored a second of the game in the 52nd minute on a goal assisted by
Peyton Wynn (Health Studies) before
Kendra Couto (Mechanical Engineering) evened the score with a penalty kick goal in the 76th minute.
Three minutes later, Strickler scored the winner for the Gaels.
With the win, Queen's improved their record to to 7-1-1. The Gaels close out their weekend set of games hosting the Ottawa Gee-Gees Sunday at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
