The Queen's Gaels Women's Soccer team wore pink jerseys on Saturday, October 5th at Richardson Stadium as part of "Kicking for the Cure," raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. On the field, the Gaels fell 1-3 in a closely contested match against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. With the result, Gaels' record moves to 6-2-1.
It was a hard-fought match, with both sides showing physical intensity throughout. Queen's opened the scoring early, with
Mattson Strickler (Concurrent Education) finding the back of the net off a pass from
Tatiana Kayrouz (Commerce). Ottawa responded with three goals over the course of the match, holding a narrow advantage into the final whistle. Gaels goalkeeper
Echo Bourbonnais (Arts and Education) made key saves to keep the game close until the end.
