Queen’s Men’s Hockey Falls 3–2 to Carleton in Season Opener

Queen's Men's Hockey began their season and home opener with a hard-hitting, high-paced first period against the Carleton Ravens, setting the tone for an action-packed night at Memorial Centre Arena. The Gaels opened the scoring early when Aidan Castle (Arts & Science) buried a rebound, assisted by Jack Duff (Biology) and Ante Zlomislic (Applied Science), igniting the home crowd in Kingston. Carleton responded just minutes later to even things up, then struck again with 2:07 remaining to carry a 2–1 lead into the first intermission.

The Ravens added to their advantage early in the second, finding the back of the net to make it 3–1. Queen's looked for an answer on a power play midway through the frame, but it was their penalty kill that came up big. Liam Tanner (Kinesiology) capitalized on a turnover in the defensive zone and finished off a shorthanded chance, set up by Cameron Tolnai (Business), and a secondary assist awarded to Cameron Morton (Arts & Sciences) to bring the Gaels back within one. Queen's carried that momentum into the closing minutes of the period, generating sustained pressure on the man advantage, but couldn't find the equalizer. Carleton held on to their 3–2 edge heading into the final intermission.

The third period was scoreless on both sides, and despite a strong effort at home, the Gaels fell 3–2 to the Carleton Ravens.

Queen's Men's Hockey returns to Memorial Centre Arena on Friday, October 4th to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
