Powered by five turnovers forced on defence, Queen's Football defeated the McMaster Marauders 46-10 in Round 1 of the OUA Playoffs Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.
The defence's monster game included four interceptions and four forced fumbles, two of which were recovered for turnovers, while holding the Marauders' offence to just 10 points in the team's big 36-point win.
Ashton Miller-Melancon (Arts Science) and
Jeremy Hiscox (Economics) each recorded interceptions they returned to the house for a pick six, while
Keegan Vanek (Arts & Science) and
Justin Pace (Economics) also both recorded interceptions in the win. Vanek and Pace also recovered fumbles for Queen's.
Oliver Jackson (Film & Media) also had a terrific game, recording two sacks and on forced fumble for the Tricolour.
On offence, quarterback
Alex Vreeken (Kinesiology) finished 16-24 for 241 yards and two touchdowns, throwing touchdowns to
Logan Walton (Economics) and Mateo Tuiotu (Arts & Science).
Running back
Jared Chisari (Graduate Studies) finished the game with 20 carries for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Tyler Mullan (Arts & Science) added three field goals in the win.
With the victory, Queen's Football will travel to Windsor, Ont. to take on the Windsor Lancers next weekend in the OUA semifinals.
