The Queen's Gaels Women's Basketball team started their season strong with their victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday October 24. The Gaels secured a 78-56 win, showcasing strong teamwork and balanced scoring throughout the game.
Leading the Gaels was
Kiyara Letlow (Kinesiology), who posted a dominant 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Ally Smith (Kinesiology) followed closely with 14 points, shooting an impressive 5-for-7 from the field and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.Â
The Gaels started the first quarter with confidence, taking a 16-8 lead. In the second quarter, the Gaels kept the pressure on Lakehead, moving the ball effectively, setting the tone for a competitive matchup, and finishing the quarter with 37-33. The Gaels came out firing in the third quarter, turning the tide with an impressive 60-40 score at the end of the third quarter. The Gaels regained the lead and maintained it, demonstrating their resilience and teamwork as they closed the game 78-56.
The Gaels will look to maintain their strong start on the road when they face the Windsor Lancers on Friday, October 31st.
