Gaels Put Up Strong Fight in 24-42 Loss to Guelph Gryphons

The Queen's Gaels Men's Rugby team battled hard on Friday, October 10th at Nixon Field, ultimately falling 24-42 to the Guelph Gryphons. Despite the defeat, the Gaels showed determination and skill throughout the match.

The Gaels struck first in the opening half, with tries from Luca Amersekere (Applied Science) and Noah Merkur (Kinesiology and Health Studies), followed by a conversion from Marcus D'Acre (Economics) before the 20-minute mark. Guelph responded to take the lead, but Queen's continued to apply pressure.

In the final 20 minutes, Briar Barron (Applied Science) and Marcus D'Acre (Economics) each crossed the try line, with Adam Stander (Engineering) completing the conversion to close the gap. The team's relentless effort kept the game competitive until the final whistle.

The Gaels will aim to rebound and sharpen their play when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, October 18th.
