Queen's Women's Soccer remain undefeated with road draw against Carleton

Queen's Women's Soccer earned a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against the Carleton Ravens Friday night in Ottawa, Ont.

First-year player Brinley Bjornson (Arts) scored for the Gaels in the draw, opening the scoring in the 65th minute.

Carleton would even the score eight minutes later when Lauren Illman found the back of the net in the 73rd minute and with no goals the rest of the way, each team ended the night with a point.

Queen's held the offensive advantage throughout the game, recording seven shots on goal against Carleton, with the Ravens' goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soulard making six stops.

In net for Queen's, Kirstin Tynan (Political Studies) followed up two clean sheets to start the season with one save in the draw.

The Gaels' record moved to 2-1-0 with the draw, provisionally first in the OUA East standings with seven points. The Ravens' record moved to 1-1-1 after the game, with Carleton sitting provisionally fifth in the OUA East with five points.

Queen's four-game road trip to start the season wraps up on Sunday at 1 p.m., when they take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees (2-0-0) in Ottawa.
