BOX SCORE OTTAWA, Ont. (Sept. 8, 2024) - Queen's Women's Soccer falls to the Ottawa Gee-Gee's in a tight game ending in 1-0 for the Gee-Gee's on Sunday afternoon.

The two evenly matched teams displayed a tough back and forth battle on the pitch with the Gaels maintaining strong efforts of ball possession throughout the match.

In the end, the Gee-Gee's were able to produce more shots on net, and ultimately a goal in the 36th minute of the game by Maya Smith from a corner kick, which cost the Gaels the game and their no-loss streak so far this season.

Dominant pressure on the Gee-Gee's offense by the back line and swift saves by goal tender Kirstin Tynan kept the game close on numerous occasions as the Gaels failed to answer after the goal in the first half.

74 minutes in, Clare Sun comes in clutch in front of the net as Tynan quickly recovers from a previous goal attempt seconds earlier, ensuring it stays at a one goal game.

With the Gaels unable to find the back of the Gee-Gee's net, the Gee-Gee's win to make their record 3-0-0, tying them with Nipissing Lakers. The Gaels now sit at a record of 2-1-1 and are third in the OUA East.

The Gaels next attempt at victory will be on September 14th, 1:00pm, at home against the Toronto Varsity Blues.  The Blues sit at a 2-1-0 record going into next Saturday's game.

Tickets are available to purchase on the Queen's Gaels Ticket website and are free for Queen's students.
