On Saturday afternoon, Queen's Men's Soccer took on the Toronto Varsity Blues at Richardson Stadium. Despite a strong performance, the Gaels dropped the match 2-0.
Queen's had an aggressive defensive presence throughout the game; they shut down the Blues' scoring opportunities and cleared the ball away from the box.
In net, Connor Adams also played a key role in the Gael's efforts. Adams also recorded 6 saves, bringing his total saves this season to 18.
Their dominant defense shut down Toronto through the first half and into the second.
The Gaels held the Blues off until the 81st minute, where Toronto found a goal off a penalty kick. Toronto continued the momentum with another in the 84th minute.
The Gaels also put up some impressive offensive efforts of their own, increasing pressure on the Blues through the second half. Andrea Gortana, Damiano Sinaguglia, and Wil Calne all recorded shots of their own.
Next weekend, the Gaels take on crosstown rivals the RMC Paladins in a double header matchup. Queen's heads to RMC on Friday, Sept. 20, at 5pm, before returning to Richardson on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3:15pm.
