Queen's Men's Soccer Dominate RMC Paladins in 5-0 Shutout

BOX SCORE (20/09/24) - Kingston, ON.  The Queen's Gaels Men's Soccer team is triumphant on Friday night against Kingston rival team, RMC Paladins.  The Gaels scored five goals in the duration of the match, leaving the Paladins unable to answer on their own home field.

The first goal of the game was scored at 27:10 by midfielder, no. 10, Andrea Gortana (School of Business).  Only two minutes later does forward, no. 29, George Papadopoulos (Arts and Sciences) score a second goal, after a corner kick from Gortana, making the score 2-0.  

The third goal for the Gaels is attained at 40:39 by rookie midfielder Luca DeCaria (no.16) (Arts and Sciences), achieving his first goal in his OUA career.  

At halftime, the Gaels sit at a 3-0 lead over the Paladins, with Gaels defense and goalie Connor Adams (Arts and Sciences) maintaining strong defense against the rivals.  Adams saved a total of two goal attempts by the Paladins before the end of the first half.  

The second half consisted of another goal scored by Papadopoulos at 46:10, and a final goal by midfielder, no.17, Damiano Sinaguglia (Arts and Sciences) at 71:04, shutting out the Paladins with a 5-0 final score.  

Overall, the Gaels dominated the Paladins with powerful defensive plays and persistent offense.  The Gaels now up their season record to 1-4-1, asserting their position on the OUA standings above the Paladins. 

Both teams are set to face-off again on Sunday, September 22nd, with the Gaels hosting on their home turf of Richardson Stadium.  With this win, the Gaels hope to maintain momentum to defeat the Paladins once more.
