Duchesnau, Siksna, Baker named OUA All-Stars for 2023-24 season

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 4, 2024) – Three Queen's Women's Volleyball players were named OUA All-Stars for the 2023-24 season, the conference announced Monday.

Hannah Duchesneau and Amanda Siksna were named OUA First Team All-Stars, while Shea Baker joined them among the honourees as a Second Team All-Star.

"I'm very proud of all our OUA All-Stars and our entire team!" said Queen's Women's Volleyball Head Coach Ryan Ratushniak. "We have a very deep team with tremendous talent on court and a great team culture. Everyone is working hard each day and pushing themselves and their teammates to be the best versions of themselves. The All-Star recognitions come as a result of this. Congratulations to Shea, Hannah and Amanda!"

Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.), who was also named the OUA Player of the Year on Monday, led the Gaels in a number of statistical categories on offence. The outside hitter finished fifth in the conference in total kills, with 241, kills/set, at 3.60, and hitting percentage, at .288.

This is the second straight season Duchesneau was named an OUA All-Star after earning OUA All-Rookie recognition in 2021-22, and First Team recognition in 2022-23.

Siksna (Markham, Ont.) finished the year second in the OUA in total blocks, with 75, and first in blocks/set at 1.15 from the Middle position. Siksna also contributed 115 kills and 42 digs this past season.

And Baker (Vancouver, B.C.) finished fifth in the conference in total assists, with 567 on the season, and second in assists/set at 8.72 from the setter position. Baker, who also contributed 58 digs and 22 blocks for the Gaels, surpassed the 1,000 career assists mark this season and finished with a career 1,345 assist for Queen's.

Queen's Women's Volleyball finished with a program-best 18-2 regular season record this season, earning the No. 2 seed in the OUA Quigley Cup Playoffs and finishing as semifinalists.
