Men's Basketball named Jim Tait Trophy recipient as Varsity Team of the Year

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 27, 2024) - Queen's Men's Basketball was named the Queen's University Varsity Team of the Year for the 2023-24 season during the 88th Colour Awards banquet Wednesday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).

The Jim Tait Trophy is presented annually to the top performing Varsity Team. This award recognizes the team's competitive success, community involvement and other attributes which have brought the most honour and recognition to Queen's.

Queen's Men's Basketball finished with their first OUA Wilson Cup Championship since the 1956-57 season and their best ever finish nationally, earning a U SPORTS silver medal. The Gaels also finished with a program best 19-3 regular season record and had a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian and Defensive Player of the Year in Luka Syllas, two OUA All-Stars in Luka and Cole Syllas, and two OUA Major Award winners, Luka Syllas as Defensive Player of the Year, and Steph Barrie as Coach of the Year.
