KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 16, 2024) - Queen's Women's Basketball lost to the Ottawa Gee-Gees 74-71 Friday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
After trailing for most of the game, the Gaels made a strong comeback bid late in the fourth quarter. Two massive three-pointers by
Laura Donovan and strong efforts on both sides of the court by
Bridget Mulholland helped the Gaels outscore Ottawa by 12 points in the fourth quarter and even hold a one-point lead with less than a minute to play, but the Gee-Gees would hit a late-three pointer and hold on for the three-point win.
The Gee-Gees' biggest lead of the game was 16 points just before half time, but the Gaels clawed back and almost pulled off the incredible comeback.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) led the Gaels with a double-double, recording a team-high 22 points and 13 rebounds. Donovan (London, Ont.) finished with 11 points while
Bella Gaudet (Ottawa, Ont.) also finished in double digits scoring, adding 11 points for Queen's in the loss.
Queen's finished the game shooting 42 per cent from the floor and 46 per cent from three-point range, while the Gee-Gees were 46 per cent from the floor and 40 per cent from three-point range.
