KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 17, 2024) - Queen's Women's Basketball dropped their regular season finale, losing to the No. 1 seed Carleton Ravens 70-63 Saturday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
The game was closely contested throughout, with the Gaels and Ravens close throughout three quarters. Carleton started to pull away in the fourth quarter, but Queen's mounted a late comeback and pulled within five points late, but ultimately fell to Carleton by seven points.
Three players scored in double digits for Queen's, led by
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) who finished with another monster performance, recording a game-high 19 points and 17 rebounds.
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) recorded 17 points while
Emma Weltz (Timmins, Ont.) added 10 points in the loss.
Saturday's contest was also Seniors' Night for Queen's Women's Basketball, with the team honouring their four graduating seniors - Chadwick, Donovan, Weltz, and
Bridget Mulholland (Kingston, Ont.) - after the game.
With the loss, the Gaels finished the regular season second in the OUA East Division standings with an 18-4 record. Queen's will enter the OUA Critelli Cup Playoffs as the No. 2 seed, earning a bye into the OUA quarterfinals. Queen's will host their quarterfinals matchup next week at the ARC.
