Queen's Football lost 51-21 to the No. 1 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks Saturday afternoon in Waterloo, Ont.
After opening the scoring with a safety, Laurier would find the end zone twice in the first quarter to take a 16-0 lead.
Queen's Football responded with a 66-yard touchdown pass from
Anthony Lio (Kinesiology) to
Matt Camillo (Economics), cutting the score to 16-7 heading into the second quarter.
Down 23-7 late in the second quarter, Queen's Football blocked a field goal and drove the distance of the field, capped by a two-yard touchdown run by
Jared Chisari (Graduate Studies), to cut Laurier's lead to 23-14.
The Golden Hawks would respond with 10 late points in the quarter to take a 33-14 lead into half time.
Laurier would add a touchdown and another safety to take a 42-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
Lio and
Mateo Tuioti (Arts & Science) would connect for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter for Queen's Football, and the game would end with Laurier earning the 30-point victory.
Justin Pace (Economics) led Queen's defence with 10.5 tackles (10 solo, one assisted) and a sack.
With the loss, Queen's Football's record fell to 4-3. Queen's has a bye next week before closing out the regular season with their Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 19, taking on the Waterloo Warriors at Richardson Stadium.
