Queen's Women's Basketball kicked off the second half of their season with a big road win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees, winning 70-61 in a battle of one-loss teams in Ottawa, Ont. Friday night.
After a tight first quarter, the Gaels pushed ahead of Ottawa in the second quarter to build an eight-point lead at half time. Queen's would not relinquish the lead, holding on throughout the second half for the nine-point win.
Four Gaels players scored in double digits in the win, led by 
Julia Chadwick who finished with a double double. Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) recorded a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Bella Gaudet (Ottawa, Ont.) and 
Emma Weltz (Timmins, Ont.) each scored 15 points while 
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.) added 14 points in the win.
Queen's was strong down low in the win, outscoring the Gee-Gees 40-20 in the paint.
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 9-1, while Ottawa's record fell to 9-2 with the loss.
