Queen's Women's Basketball kept up their winning ways, defeating the Western Mustangs 88-58 Friday night in London, Ont. to extend their winning streak to five games.
The Gaels jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back. 47 per cent shooting and 54 points in the paint led Queen's offence to 88 points on the night, their fourth highest output of the season.
Julia Chadwick (Ottawa, Ont.) had another outstanding performance for the Gaels in the win, finishing with team-highs in points, with 29, and rebounds, with 15. Chadwick is fourth in the OUA in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game, and first in the conference in rebounding, averaging 11 boards per game.
Three other Queen's players finished in double-digits scoring, lead by
Laura Donovan (London, Ont.), who poured in 14 points,
Emma Weltz (Timmins, Ont.), with 12, and
Bella Gaudet (Ottawa, Ont.) who added 10.
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 14-2 to keep pace atop the OUA East standings. Queen's is second in the division, one game ahead of the Ottawa Gee-Gees (13-3) and just one game behind the Carleton Ravens (15-1).
The Gaels will close out their weekend road trip Saturday afternoon in Windsor, Ont., taking on the Windsor Lancers (9-6).
