KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 8, 2023) Queen's Women's Soccer were unstoppable Friday night in an absolute blowout against the Ravens.
Queen's gained possession quickly, scoring in the second minute with a top shelf goal by #11
Mattson Strickler. Just minutes later, #8
Seema Sakran was able to find the back of the net, upping their lead to 2 points. The Gaels would carry this lead into the second half.
Carleton attempted to come back strong with a shot on net, but couldn't get past the Gaels' strong keeper

Leda Naihin, as she shot from the right side of the net to hit the post and make it in. #11
Mattson Strickler managed to tap another one in, earning her second goal of the game in the 88th minute.
Queen's registered an outstanding 19 shots on goal, while Carleton had only 2. The Gaels also recorded 9 corner kicks, whereas the Ravens recorded 1. With the win, the Gaels remain undefeated, improving their record to 3-0-0.
When asked how it felt getting her first ever goal for Queen's, Devon said, "It felt amazing. I think I've improved a lot, playing with some of the best players in the country and amazing coaches. I'm proud of myself and proud of the team!"
Speaking about the team dynamic, Mattson added that, "It's a very new team this year, but we've been working together really well and things are coming together nicely." Her personal goal is to maintain a good scoring streak in her new position as a forward.
While the Gaels have been undoubtedly dominating offensively, #1
Kirstin Tynan expressed how unstoppable the defenders have been so far this season. "The key thing is the backline," she stated with confidence.
The women are back in action September 15th at 1:00pm for an away game against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
