Gaels score five goals, blank TMU to remain undefeated

KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept 23, 2023) Queen's Women's Soccer defeated the TMU bold 5-0 Saturday at Richardson Stadium to remain undefeated on the season.

Queen's were dynamic in Saturday afternoon's matchup against TMU. The Gaels earned a penalty shot in the 24th minute, which Sophie Miranda (Cobble Hill, B.C.) put away calmly in the bottom right slot. Leda Naihin (Markham, Ont.) was next to blast one in the bottom right corner, assisted by Seema Sakran (Ottawa, Ont.), in the 34th minute. Sakran also scored an absolutely beautiful goal in the top left corner, from just outside the box, in the 43rd minute.

Queen's would carry the three-goal lead into half time. While TMU brought some physicality in the second half, Queen's did not back down from the challenge. Morgan Fenton (Grimsby, Ont.) came in hot to tuck away a fourth goal for Queen's in the 82nd minute. And to close the scoring, Queen's executed an excellent play, where Melina Glavas (Vancouver, B.C.) came in hot with the finish, assisted by Nyah Slusarenko (Ottawa, Ont.).

Kirstin Tynan (North Vancouver, B.C.) recorded one save for a fifth clean sheet on the season.

With the win, the Gaels' record improved to 6-0-0, maintaining their undefeated streak. The Gaels are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. as they take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees in Ottawa, Ont.
