KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 23, 2023) - Queen's Men's Rugby claimed a 25-19 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks in a close game Saturday at Nixon Field.
Dan Svoboda (Whitby, Ont.),
Marcus D'Acre (Mississauga, Ont.), and
Allister Poulos (Toronto, Ont.) all scored tries for the Gaels in the win, while
James Webb (Toronto, Ont.) added 10 points from two converts and two penalty converts.
Svoboda opened the scoring for Queen's in the fifth minute and after Laurier responded, Webb put the Gaels back up with a penalty convert.Â
After another Golden Hawks try, Queen's regained the lead with another penalty convert from Webb before tries by D'Acre and Poulos gave Queen's a 13-point lead.
Laurier would add one more try but the Gaels held on for the six-point win.
After today's match, Queen's improved their record to 2-0, and will be back in action next weekend against the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at Nixon Field.
