Lizzie Gibson named Outstanding Performance of the Year recipient at 2022-23 Colour Awards

KINGSTON, Ont. (April 4, 2023) – Lizzie Gibson was awarded Queen's University's Varsity Teams Outstanding Performance of the Year award for the 2022-23 season during the 87th annual Colour Awards banquet Tuesday night.

Gibson (Caledon, Ont.), from Queen's Women's Rugby, was named both the OUA Most Valuable Player and U SPORTS Women's Rugby Player of the Year after her incredible 2022 season. Also an OUA First Team All-Star and U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, Gibson led the country in scoring, with 14 tries and 176 points. Gibson's incredible point total has her second on the Gaels' all-time scoring list with 218 points, just one behind Lauren McEwen.

"Lizzie Gibson has just completed one of the most successful seasons a U SPORTS student-athlete can have," Queen's Women's Rugby Head Coach Dan Valley said.
