Queen's Men's Basketball edged the Brock Badgers 82-80 in their OUA quarterfinals matchups Saturday in St. Catharines, Ont.
After a tight first quarter, the Gaels opened up a six-point lead at half time and led by nine going into the fourth quarter. Queen's held off a late Brock run to secure the two-point win.
Cam Bett led all scorers with 24 points off the bench for Queen's, powered by six three-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Three other Gaels finished the game in double-digits scoring, with
Cole Syllas recording 18 points and 11 rebounds and
Michael Kelvin II finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Connor Kelly finished with 12 points in the win for Queen's.
The Gaels finished the game shooting 38 per cent from the floor and 40 per cent from beyond the arc, compared to 43 per cent shooting from the floor and 29 per cent from three-point range for the Badgers.
With the win, Queen's advanced to the OUA semifinals where they will take on the top-seeded Carleton Ravens. The Gaels will travel to Ottawa, Ont. to face the Ravens on Wednesday, March 1.
