Queen's Men's Basketball cruised past the Nipissing Lakers, 108-70, Friday night in North Bay, Ont., opening their northern road trip over the weekend with a big win.
The Gaels jumped out to a big lead with a massive first quarter, scoring 38 points in the first frame, and wouldn't look back. Queen's led by 27 points at half time and 41 points after three quarters before coasting to the 38-point win.
Five Queen's players finished the game scoring in double digits led by Cam Bett, who recorded a game-high 19 points.
Cole Syllas finished with 16 points and fell just one rebound shy of a double double, grabbing nine in the win.
Connor Kelly recorded 14 points, Michael Kelvin 13 points, and
Scott Jenkins added 12 points off the bench in the win.
The Gaels were also solid on the defensive end of the court, forcing the Lakers into 13 turnovers which led to 16 points, and holding them to 36 per cent shooting from the floor.
Queen's finished the win shooting 54 per cent from the floor and 43 per cent from three-point range.
With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 16-5, in third place in the OUA East and a half-game back of the Ottawa Gee-Gees in second place at 17-5.
Queen's will round out their regular season tomorrow, on the road in Sudbury, Ont., taking on the Laurentian Voyageurs at 8 p.m. Gaels fans can catch the action on
