Gaels claim victory over Windsor Lancers

KINGSTON, Ont. (December 2nd, 2023) - Queen's comes out on top of Windsor Lancers for back-to-back win.

Queen's Women's Hockey defeated the Windsor Lancers Saturday night at the Memorial Centre, finishing with a score of 5-1 for the Gaels.

The first period began with strong starts from both the Lancers and the Gaels. Twelve minutes into the period, Windsor scored, taking the game's lead. Then, with less than thirty seconds left in the period, Allyson Reeves put one in the back of Windsor's net to tie up the game, ending the period with a 1-1 score.

Queen's came out with a bang in the second period, looking to send Windsor back on their toes. Four minutes into the second period, Emma Michalicka (double check) scored and was followed by Sara Di Filippo just seconds later. Windsor couldn't answer those goals and ended the second period with a score of 3-1 for Queen's.

The Gaels came back with even more energy in the third period with Logan Biggs scoring just three minutes into the third period. Scout Watkins-Southward followed up with a goal halfway through the period, and the Lancers could not come back, finishing the game with a 5-1 score.

Emma Tennant had 23 shots on net, only letting one in.

After tonight's game, the women's overall standing will rise to 8-7-0, and they will be back in action on January 5th, 2024, where they will take on the Guelph Gryphons.
